On Friday 13 February the 2014 Student Representative Council held its first meeting for the year. A could of SRC students were absent so we will get a group photo soon.
It was an exciting start for them. Following are Mrs Anania’s notes from the meeting.
Today our new SRC met for the first time. After beginning with a prayer, each member had the opportunity to share something about themselves with the group. The SRC then were asked to discuss with each other what they would like to achieve while on the SRC. Some of their ideas include:
- Hold an Open Day, inviting the wider community into our school
- An Easter parade
- After school clubs
- Having a designated Prayer space in the Open Area
- Creating a school prayer
The next task was a wonderful suggestion from one of Prep members – Sidney Chapman, which was to create a profile of themselves that would be put up on the SRC Board in the Open Area. The students brainstormed ideas to include on their profile such as hobbies they enjoy as well as the skills and qualities they possess to be a valuable member of the SRC. The school captains will be responsible for creating a template of the profile. The students will work on them at next week’s SRC meeting.
It was an exciting start to the year for the SRC. Everyone contributed fully to the meeting in providing ideas and suggestions as to keeping a school the wonderful place it is.
