English
Our literacy program is built around the five pillars proven to be essential for skill development; phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. We pride ourselves on employing evidenced based approaches, proven to be successful for all learners.
During the early years we invest heavily in ensuring students develop the strong foundational skills needed to ensure future success. Early reading instruction is centered around developing key phonemic awareness skills. Combined with a synthetic phonics approach, this provides our learners with the keys to develop strong decoding and fluency skills, while enhancing opportunities for comprehension development.
Multisensory Structured Language (MSL) forms the basis for our program from Foundation to Year Six, ensuring all our students have strong understanding of the mechanics of the English language.Small group intervention and support is available to all students as needed, further demonstrating our commitment to the success of all learners.
